Properties of an Electromagnetic Wave
- All electromagnetic waves are transverse.
- Electromagnetic waves need no medium to travel through.
- That means they can travel through space or a vacuum.
- A medium is an element that waves can travel through. Sort of like waves through water.
- All other types of waves need a medium to travel through.
- Sound can travel through solid objects, air, or water, but not through space.
